Tavistock X Floria

1 year old Bay Colt

Sire: Tavistock Dam: Floria

Back at Karaka and it's no surprise we purchased a son of Tavistock. He is a dual Gr.1 winner by Montjeu, a winner over 1400m. Tavistock is one of two Montjeu's to show an enormous turn of foot. Tavistock performed best on a hard, fast track, which is perfect for Australian conditions. Tavistock is showing us that he is ideal to breed the classic, weight-for-age and middle distance horses. The stable has done very well with progeny of Tavistock including Tarzino, Tavisan, and more recently the untapped Tavistock Dancer. With four 4 Derby winners across Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong and four crops of racing age, with bigger and better books of mares covered, the best is yet to come.

The dam, Floria, is a daughter of Savabeel. A Black Type winner, she raced in Australia and New Zealand and amassed over AUD$522,700 in prize money. A versatile mare, she won over distances of 1300m to 2400m. A young mare, this is only her second foal. Her first foal is a 2YO colt sired by Snitzel called Laureate, he is owned by Te Akau Racing and trained by Jamie Richards. She is currently in foal to Iffraaj.

"The first of Tavistock's crop when he served his first $65,000 service fee mares.. so this colt is from one of those mares that is going to help Tavistock be the dominant sire in New Zealand that I think he is going to be.. This is the type of colt that we think will be a Spring and Autumn 3YO and run in the races in Australia which are worth a fortune and obviously with the horses that we've purchased from here and won with in Australia, those mile plus races in Australia are not the hardest races to win. It's where massive prize money is and I think this colt is a ripper type to do just that. A good, medium size, strong, bold colt"... Mick Price.

Purchased at the 2019 Karaka Yearling sales for NZ$225,000.
