"From the moment he walked out of the box at the sales complex, I wanted him. He has outstanding movement and these are types of colts that we've had the most success with. This colt has been broken in and has impressed. He's a very forward and intelligent two-year-old type. I am looking forward to him being at Caulfield soon." Mick Price

“…Love the filly. Written Tycoon just goes from strength to strength. Capitalist, last year’s Golden Slipper winner has just been announced at stud, Tycoon Tara an outstanding filly, also Group winners Winning Rupert and Rich Enuff. I thought she was really good value. She is a beautiful chestnut filly and fully qualified for Super Vobis. A very strong, beautifully muscled filly. I love those fillies that have a little touch of masculinity about them. “…He is a lovely strong bay colt. We know the family well, look Shamus Award led all the way in a Cox Plate as a 3yo so he was a great horse himself and out of a fast Exceed and Excel mare and I like the cross. Shindig the second dam won a Group 1 and threw a Group 1 winner in Shinzig who we had here for a little while and he won the CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield. This horse reminds me a little bit of him. He is pretty boisterous and he is an early foal and is full of himself. A bold colt with great bone, great feet and great knees. You will see that beautiful head carriage and good walking colt with good drive from behind. We think he may make a 2yo but if not I am sure he will furnish into a magnificent 3yo. He has a very high Matchem DNA rating and clean x-rays. He is a big, strong, powerful, lovely colt. We really like him…” Mick Price

Shamus Award is a highly credentialed first season sire. Snitzel is one of Australia’s premier sires with an impressive progeny record including:

Tavistock X Dancing Forever

Tavistock X Dancing Forever

1 year old Bay Colt

Sire: Tavistock Dam: Dancing Forever

Check out the video footage of the Matchem tested Tavistock x Dancing Forever colt parading at the Karaka yearling sale.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sumsuPe5mWg

If you are looking for a Derby horse, than look no further than this colt. If anyone knows how good a son of Tavistock can be, it's me. Having trained his best son yet in Tarzino, he won the 2015 Group One Victorian Derby. From only 14 starts, he won over $1.6million in prize money. Tavistock has already produced Group 1 winners Volkstock'n'barrel, Werther, Tavago plus Group 2 winner Hasselhoof from his first initial runners and his progeny have earned over $15 million to date. Tavistock is New Zealand breeding’s bright new star and a horse to support over the coming years.

Mick Price's notes on the colt: "...obviously I trained Tarzino, he's not exactly the same colour, but that doesn't matter. He is big and strong, big boned and a great walking colt. He is a Derby horse. We didn't buy him to be a two-year-old, we bought him to be a beautiful, big, strong three-year-old. He is not going to be entered for any of the short, sharp two-year-old races, but you'll see him at Flemington as a three-year-old in the Derby. I think he's a lovely big strong animal from Cambridge Stud, the same farm that Tarzino came from. He X-rayed clean and he has a good rating on Matchem Genetic Testing. If you're looking for a Derby/Cox Plate type of horse from New Zealand, this is the one..."

The dam of this colt, Dancing Forever, is a daughter of Keeper. Dancing Forever is a metropolitan winner of four races and a half-sister Listed winner Thousand Veils. Dancing Forever has produced three foals and all are winners including city winner Ana (also by Tavistock) and recent winners Dame Margo Fonteyn (2 wins) and Jigalong (Tavistock). This is the family that produced Group 1 winning stallions Gold Fever and Bellamy Road and countless other international stakes winners.

To view the colt's pedigree, click here: https://nzb.co.nz/sales/pedigree.cfm?sale_id=194&lot=114

Ownership opportunities includes purchase price and GST, breaking in expenses, transport from the sales, all vet and x-ray inspections, Matchem DNA testing, 12 month mortality insurance including $10,000 emergency surgery cover and photographs of the horse.

The colt was purchased for $260,000 plus GST.

“…He is a correct, sound, good walking horse. We think we have bought this colt at the right price given that he is Super Vobis qualified and that he was probably not that well suited to a January Magic Millions sale. He is a 5th November foal. He is from a really fast mare in Metonymy, who was trained by Peter Moody. This colt was reared on a good Victorian farm in Burnewang North, which is proven to be a farm that breeds tough racehorses.
